Jacaszek – Glimmer

Word reached us recently that the ever-prolific Ghostly would be releasing Jacaszek’s new album, Glimmer, in December; news that sent a generous tremor of excitement through our bones. Last year’s full-length, Treny,  with its elegiac motifs and whispers of electronic texture and found sounds, was a peach and Dare-gale, the first track released from Glimmer, continues in a similar vein. It evokes the chord progression found on Fourtet’s And They All Looked Broken Heartedbut while Kieran Hebden’s version used it as a counterpoint to a skittery, stuttering beat, Jacaszek’s incarnation gives it more room to breathe, each chord achingly strung out and bathed in murmured ambience. It’s a promising augur for the new record – head over to Ghostly for a tantalising preview of the rest of the tracks.

You can check Dare-gale below as well as Treny in full. Dig in.
