Dylan Ettinger – The Pale Mare

If you’ve got a spare 5 minutes this afternoon make sure you check out Logan Owlbeemoth’s glowing and glowering video for Not Not Fun synth veteran Dylan Ettinger’s lurching and ticking electro-bass track ‘The Pale Mare’. Taking Michael Almereyda’s 1994 vampire flick Nadja (which is really great, btw) it refixes the ghostly black and white imagery into a demented and hypercolour faux-memory of warped VHS and video-dream blurs. It’s as creepy as it is hypnotic and it really nails the imaginative referentiality of Ettinger’s forward-thinking throwback style.
