Melt Yourself Down – Fix My Life

Check out the eye-watering new geometric/stroboscopic video by Morgan Beringer for London afro-punk-jazz-jump-shout-bang six-piece Melt Yourself Down’s single ‘Fix My Life’. It’s a riotously raucous affair that captures the supercharged molasses high of Pete, Shabaka, Kushal & co.’s own brand of 21st century electro-tribal funk but posits it in an even more hyperactive visual aesthetic, reminiscent of Tony Conrad’s ‘The Flicker’ and the onrush of a hefty hit of salvia. Quick word of warning: epileptics should steer well clear.

Image is by biological topographer and early photographic abstractionist Karl Blossfeldt, whose incredible work is currently on display at the Whitechapel Gallery.
