Carrying on our Eastern European theme (actually not entirely sure we ever pointed out that yesterday’s subject – Střed Světa – was from the Czech Republic, but hey-ho) here’s a brand new video by Hungarian photographer and video artist Bartha Máté for a track off S Olbricht’s upcoming LP on Opal Tapes. Máté has created a murky, viscous interzone of post-industrial decay through which rorschach dust mites and derelict pop icons float and swarm. It’s a serene yet ominous vision, perfectly capturing the half-euphoric, half-apocalyptic electronic drone of S Olbricht’s enigmatic new track.
For a better idea of what to expect from the new record, check out a sampler of his last offering, released last year on Farbwechsel. It’s far more beat-oriented than this new track, although the themes of destruction and emotional expansion are still lurking in the grainy shadows. Regardless of what comes out, we are very excited indeed.
