Found Fridays

This week we have mostly been listening to Laurel Halo. The first track from her new EP landed on Monday and sees her treading the restlessly percussive, pitch-shifting paths of her Hour Logic and King Felix EPs. Next Thursday sees her in action at XOYO alongside live performances from Kassem Mosse and Lee Gamble as well as a DJ set from Untold and Bill Kouligas. So one of the best lineups we’re likely to see anywhere this year, then. Quite why they’re running the night ’til 3 on a Thursday is anyone’s guess, but it will certainly be worth it – Friday just isn’t going to be the most productive of days.

In amongst the new Halo in this week’s FF mix there’s a murky Actress remix of Dinos Chapman’s I’m This Idiot, a tribally hypnotic cut from Gobby’s new album and a fresh slab of industrial sludge from Demdike Stare’s Testpressing series on Modern Love. Get stuck in.

Finally, as a little well-done lollipop for sitting through another week of grey skies and Baltic gales, here’s a mesmerising, mysterious and haunting video of quasi-abstracted archive collage for Shape Worship’s end-of-the-night dancefloor swooner, ‘Quilt’ (out on Exotic Pylon Records).
