Colin Stetson – In Mirrors/And In Truth

Is the secretive, drip-fed unveiling of material from Colin Stetson’s new LP a carefully orchestrated PR triumph or a happy accident? Either way, the wait is beginning to weigh rather heavy. Sure, we’ve heard the Belgian radio show on mixcloud where a few songs were premiered, but they’re tricky to return to, buried, as they are, beneath an avalanche of Flem.

Where are the Youtube rips? The Soundcloud previews? Returning from furtive Google searches empty-handed is a vaguely novel experience when preview album streams are the norm.

Still, the wait isn’t long now and until then we’ve been thrown another morsel by the good folks at Constellation Records in the form of a sort of split video. Both tracks appear to have been shorn of their full length down to little more than a minute each, but with every view of the serene In Mirrors giving way to the vaulting saxophone and soaring Justin Vernon vocal of And In Truth, we’re feeling a little more sated.

New History Warfare Vol. 3 is released on 30th April and, if you hadn’t guessed, we’re quite excited.
