New Releases on Spectrum Spools

Despite the untimely demise of Emeralds, John Elliott still has a lot on his plate. Alongside his solo project, Outer Space, his Editions Mego offshoot, Spectrum Spools, has kickstarted its 2013 with the announcement of two new artists with albums on the way.

New tracks from Palm Highway Chase and Quicksails have appeared this week, adding to the already impressive roster of artists that number AV favourites Container and Forma among them. Palm Highway Chase, whose name sounds like the sun-kissed level of an arcade driving game, makes, unsurprisingly, music that wouldn’t be out of place on the sun-kissed level of an arcade driving game. Quicksails meanwhile, ploughs a more abstract furrow, blending analogue and digital instrumentation to create dissonant, meandering collages.

Look out for both albums in the next couple of months and look out for Container, who is playing his first UK show at Corsica Studios on 20th April.
