SGAR – Black Oyster

Miasmah have a talent for wheedling out some of the darkest noise, drone and modern composition around, and this new release – a mini-album heralding a northern European tour by Norwegian doom-mongers Svarte Greiner and Alexander Rishaug (SGAR) – is no different. Arrhythmic semi-melodies, piercingly sparse electronics and morbid atmospherics are the order of the day, creating a desolate soundscape of burnt skies and charcoal seas. Unfortunately they won’t be playing in London this time round, but who knows, maybe this will be the turning point…

Image is by Tom Hunter, a Hackney-based artist who reinterprets classic paintings (here Andrew Wyeth’s brilliant Christina’s World) as East London narratives. His work is currently showing at the Warwick Arts Centre.
