R&S are pretty much it for compelling, forward-thinking dance music at the moment. Spear-heading concepts of how it can be produced and what purposes it can serve, they’re totally merging intelligent, experimental electronics with danceable, mainstream elements, creating something fresh, vibrant and pretty unique. Standout producers Lone, Blawan and the now ubiquitous (and Mercury nominated) James Blake have all previously featured on our pages, forming a hallowed pantheon to which we’d now like to add Klaus. A somnambulant stagger through an eerie digital forest, the Tusk EP flicks continuously from being beat- to mood-driven, never falling completely into ambience or dance. It perfectly encapsulates everything that R&S stand for and is a real beauty to boot.
