add void

Blanck Mass

Blanck Mass is the recently released solo project of Benjamin John Power – one half of the immense Fuck Buttons. I suppose it’s slightly unfair to insist on a comparison, but there really are a lot of similarities with his previous work as a duo – scratches and hisses of white noise, glittering electronics and, most importantly, soaringly euphoric synth harmonies. However, the tone of this new record is far more reflective. The thudding techno underlining much of the earlier sound has been dropped and the elegiac ambience and intricacy of sound structuring has been brought to the fore, creating a beautiful, well-constructed record of ambient, electronic drone. Maybe crying out for a Fuck Buttons remix album though?
