The East End Film Festival’s kicking off next week and they’ve got some fantastic strands, exhibitions, seminars and events on their programme. One of the screenings we’re most looking forward to is the free double bill set up in conjunction with Electric Sheep magazine at the Old Blue Last on Monday 2nd May.
First up is Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain, a grotesquely absurd, spiritual quest laden with surreal religious imagery. It treads a very fine line between hilarity and profundity and is apparently Marilyn Manson’s favourite film. This is followed by the master of Giallo horror, Dario Argento’s, blood-soaked masterpiece – the sumptuous Suspiria. Think Black Swan meets Nightmare on Elm Street, but so, so, so much more. Got to be one of the best horror soundtrack ever, too.
