Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

I realised recently that we’ve had a distinct lack of earthy, personal, guitar-led songsmithery on the site. This is probably due to the wealth of genre-defying electronic music currently popping up in Germany, the US and our own sceptred isle that we’ve felt compelled to cover. But it’s also due to a bit of a recent lull in anything particularly interesting or groundbreaking made with guitars and voices and men in plaid shirts and beards with bits of hay stuck in them. I think this is probably because we’re still in the depths of winter and it’s too hard to play guitars when it’s cold. Or something.

Anyway. After way too much time off, the wonderful Fleet Foxes are back to serenade us into springtime with a much needed strand of warm, bucolic madrigal. Thanks for this chaps.

Here’s the recently released title track from their upcoming album, available for you to download freely.

Beautiful image above is by Martina Lindqvist whose work is currently showing at the George and Jørgen gallery.
