add void

Faith

Went to see Future Islands last night. Same criticism of them on record as I have of them live – that they are very, very repetitive – but the lead singer’s performance more than made up for it. Really one of the most incredibly impassioned displays of raw, dramatic musical emotion I’ve ever seen. Drenched in sweat, every sinew in his body taut, slapping himself in the face, punching himself in the chest. It was really quite mesmerising. Kind of like Jack Black doing doing melodramatic synth pop.

This is their best song. It’s good.

And here’s an unplugged version of it on US radio. It’s lovely.
